The Statement Necklace

Guest post by Sharon @ thewonderbegins.

The statement/bib necklace is all the rage right now (and has been for quite a while). Whilst they can be worn with various different tops, dresses and necklines, I prefer pairing mine with a buttoned up blouse or shirt, with the necklace under the collar. But they also look pretty good under an unbuttoned shirt, peeping out of a jacket or with lower necklines. And statement necklaces are not just for a fun night out; they are also perfect for some daytime glam and can instantly update an outfit.

I love the vintage silver-tone leaf necklace, £17.25 (middle left) for a more understated style that will pair nicely with a white or demin shirt, or the Tibetan yak bone necklace, £15 (top left) for some colour. The vintage necklace by Bijoux Terner, £24.75 (top right) is also an edgier alternative for a 'plainer' statement necklace. And for night time I would opt for the handmade bib necklace, £37.50 (bottom left) with a simple dress and let the jewellery do the talking. But it would also look great peeping out from under a shirt or jacket!

Gold or Silver Jewellery?

Guest post by Sharon @ thewonderbegins.

You may have heard of determining whether you look better in gold or silver jewellery depending on your skin tone? The vein test. If your veins are more blue, then you are cool toned and silvers tend to suit you more, whereas if your veins are more on the green side, then you are of a warmer skin tone and golds and bronzes are more of your colour. And if you have blue-green veins, then I guess you are neutral-toned and suit both!

I am warm-toned myself, but my everyday-jewellery staples are a silver bracelet watch and a circle silver pendant on a silver chain. Silver tends to be a colour which I feel matches easier with my outfits, but gold definitely compliments my warmer skin more, and from time-to-time I like to wear gold or bronze, or it can depend on the colour of the hardware on my handbag!

So do you prefer to wear gold or silver jewellery?
